Stories of Change Makers
Real People, Real Actions, Lasting Impact.
"Hope is Actionable Change."
Puan Gan Wan Yeat
Teacher, SMK Sultan Abdul Samad
“Before Project EDEN, sustainability seemed distant for many of my students. Their knowledge was often limited to textbooks, and without real-world exposure, they struggled to see how their daily choices affected the environment. But EDEN changed all that. It gave them the chance to harness their potential, opening their eyes to the fact that they are not just learners—they are changemakers.”
Through EDEN, my students began to take ownership of change. They realized that throwing plastic bottles into bins without thought was part of the problem, and they proudly started initiatives to reduce waste in our school canteen. This shift in mindset was powerful—they no longer saw sustainability as someone else’s responsibility, but as their own.
What makes EDEN so impactful is its focus on practical solutions. Instead of abstract lessons, students worked on real-world projects—designing recycling systems, exploring alternatives to non-recyclable items, and presenting ideas at the Global Youth Summit. These hands-on experiences gave them confidence, showing them that their voices and ideas matter in solving real-world problems.
Most importantly, EDEN helped us empower communities. Competing and collaborating with peers from other schools taught my students that environmental challenges are shared, and together we can create solutions. They now understand that no matter what career path they choose, sustainability must be a part of their daily practice and contribution to society.
My hope is that the spark ignited by EDEN will continue to grow year after year, with each new batch of students carrying the torch of sustainability. With support from EcoGarage, this programme is not just an initiative—it’s a movement that ensures Hope is Actionable Change, leaving a lasting impact on our students, our school, and the environment.

““Through EcoGarage’s Project EDEN, my students at SM Setiabudi have discovered that sustainability is not just a subject- it is a movement they can lead. “
The modules gave them the chance to Harness their Potential, turning curiosity into real projects that matter.
With structured mentorship and interactive co-curricular activities, they took Ownership of Change, proudly representing our school at initiatives like the Global Youth Summit.
What excites me most is how EDEN translates ideas into Practical Solutions. From recycling drives to creative green innovations, students see their actions making a visible difference. And with partnerships like Secret Recipe Malaysia, they feel the power of collaboration, learning that when schools unite, we truly Empower Communities to thrive.
For my students, EDEN is more that a program- it is proof that HOPE IS ACTIONABLE CHANGE. They now walk into class with energy, purpose, and pride, knowing they are part of something bigger: a generation ready to lead the future of sustainability.”

“EcoGarage and Project EDEN were truly pivotal in my secondary school journey. Meeting the team opened doors I never thought possible- especially the chance to attend the Global Youth Summit. Without their support, I would never have transformed from just a regular student into an international delegate. “
Through EDEN, I learned to Harness my Potential. The Summit gave me my first taste of international exposure in STEM and innovation, where I met brilliant delegates from across the world. Their ideas inspired me to push beyond my comfort zone and believe that my voice matters.
I also discovered the importance of taking Ownership of Change. Teamwork, collaboration, and even constructive criticism became opportunities to grow. I realized that change doesn’t happen by waiting- it happens when we step up and lead.
EDEN showed me how to turn knowledge into Practical Solutions. Winning at GYS wasn’t just about recognition; it boosted my co-curriculum marks and opened pathways for my future after SPM. More importantly, it proved that what we learn in school can directly solve real-world problems.
Most of all EDEN helped me see how we can Empower Communities. Competing and collaborating with peers taught me that the challenges we face are shared, and together we can build solutions that matter. That sense of responsibility – to my school, my community, and the planet- will stay with me no matter what career I choose.
For me, EDEN is more than a programme. It is proof that HOPE IS ACTIONABLE CHANGE. It gave me confidence, purpose, and the belief that students like us can shape the future”
